Montane, the British outdoor clothing specialist, will attend the National Outdoor Expo in Birmingham this year for the first time.
The annual event, scheduled to take place at the NEC on 19th and 20th March 2022, will see Montane mark its first attendance with specialist talks and a bouldering wall and climbing towers over the duration of the weekend.
The Montane bouldering wall and climbing towers will be in collaboration with the British Mountaineering Council [BMC] to bring attendees free climbing sessions over the weekend with Montane ambassadors and athletes on hand to provide climbing advice and guidance. The initiative offers a chance for the outdoor brand to bring its considerable climbing expertise to the event, with the aim of encouraging more individuals to head outdoors and experience new challenges.
The event will see Montane athlete and Paralympian climber, Jesse Dufton, hosting a talk on his experiences and climbing challenges to date, as well as putting technical skills to the test in a time to beat skills test with a twist. To raise awareness of the climbing Jesse experiences, contestants will try to beat Jesse’s time blind, putting expertise to the test and making contestants aware of what he undergoes every day due to his severe sight impairment.
In addition, Montane will be hosting two skills sessions during the event in the ‘skills theatre’. On Saturday 19th at 10:45am, climber and filmmaker, Emily Law, will be talking about how to conquer the fear of falling covering mental and physical skills she’s learnt throughout her climbing career. On Sunday 20th at 10:45am, Montane ambassadors and outdoor experts will talk through the top skills and preparations needed to embark on a solo adventure.

The Outdoor Expo is an annual event which brings the outdoor community together, providing inspiration and advice from a range of exhibitors, and aims to increase participation in the outdoors, grow the outdoors market, and help put sustainability at the heart of the outdoors conversation. In addition to hundreds of stalls, over the course of the two days the event will also include several inspiring talks, as well as numerous activities.
Montane will be found at stand B43 over the course of the two days.
