Neutrino bags – delivering an outstanding warmth to weight ratio for fast and light adventures, filled with 800FP down with Nikwax fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic finish and featuring Pertex Quantum 100% recycled nylon with a fluorocarbon-free DWR (Durable Water Repellent);
Alpine bags – filled with 650FP duck down with Nikwax fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic finish and made with Pertex Quantum 100% recycled fabric with fluorocarbon-free DWR;
Solar Ultra bags – offering superior performance in cold and damp conditions with TILT technology, 100% recycled Stratus synthetic sheet insultation for increased warmth and loft as well as recycled fabrics with fluorocarbon-free DWR;
Solar Eco bags – the premium environmental conscious choice filled with 100% recycled Stratus synthetic insulation and made with 100% recycled outer fabrics with fluorocarbon-free DWR
The range is a result of over 40 years of unrivalled experience developing products for Mountain People by Mountain People. It was in 1981 that Rab’s founder and renowned mountaineer, Rab Carrington, developed his first sleeping bag – hand cutting, sewing, and filling it in a small, terraced house in Sheffield.
Inspired by its heritage as Masters of Insulation, Rab’s latest collection pushes the boundaries of sleeping bag technology, functionality, protection and comfort, and at the same time thrives to reduce its environmental impact, a goal that Equip is pursuing within its ambitious global sustainability strategy.
Rab’s design intent was to retain heat efficiently and utilise more recycled fabrics than ever before – sourced and tested to the same high standards as their non-recycled counterparts. Boasting revolutionary tech and refinement built on years of experience, the sleeping bags have been engineered for a lifetime of rigorous mountain use. To this day, Rab hand-fills all of their down sleeping bags at their factory in Derbyshire, UK, to ensure the highest possible quality and performance.
The news and updates for spring/summer 2022 span 10 core product ranges, offering the right sleeping bag for both ambitious alpine projects in the world’s most extreme environments and for all-round mountain and outdoor adventures. Some of the most important news and updates include:
The technical Andes Infinium sleeping bags have been extensively updated and now feature a GORE-TEX INFINIUM WINDSTOPPER outer – offering similar warmth and weather protection to Rab’s expedition range but with a slimmer shape, reducing pack volume and maximising the warmth to weight ratio. Filled with 800FP down with Nikwax fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic finish, the Andes Infinium are constructed with innovative TILT technology, designed to reflect heat inwards, reduce radiant heat loss and maximise warmth in extreme environments.
Updated for the SS22 collection, the popular Neutrino range delivers an outstanding warmth to weight ratio for fast and light adventures – making it ideal for mountaineering, bikepacking and lightweight backpacking trips. The updated franchise is filled with 800FP down with Nikwax fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic finish and features Pertex® Quantum 100% recycled nylon with a fluorocarbon-free DWR.
The updated Alpine sleeping bags are filled with 650FP duck down with Nikwax fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic finish and are now made with Pertex Quantum 100% recycled fabrics with fluorocarbon-free DWR. The updated range offers the optimum balance of comfort, weight, and warmth for all-round mountain adventures.
The new Solar Ultra bags are hard wearing and highly efficient synthetic sleeping bags. They carry their own environmental credentials, featuring 100% recycled Stratus™ synthetic sheet insulation, recycled outer fabrics and a fluorocarbon-free DWR. The inner lining uses TILT to reduce radiative heat loss by reflecting heat back towards the body. Along with offset localised quilting, the Sola Ultra bags reduce minimise cold transmission and maximise warmth.
The new Solar Eco range is created with 100% recycled outer fabrics featuring a fluorocarbon-free DWR and 100% recycled Stratus™ synthetic fill; the concertina style construction traps air to boost loft and warmth. Lightweight and suitable for changeable conditions, the Solar Eco collection is ideal for a wide range of activities – including camping, backpacking and mountain trekking.
Tim Fish, Product Director at Rab, said: “This new sleeping bag range is Rab’s most advanced yet – combining over four decades of expertise with the latest technical and sustainable innovations. Developed for Mountain People, by Mountain People, our collection of bags is performance-driven and expedition proven to give mountaineers peace of mind out in the field. We have been working hard and done an extensive amount of research, resulting in the new range using more recycled materials than ever to support our mission to reach Net Zero emissions by 2030.”
To extend gear lifetime and minimise waste going to landfill, Rab offers professional sleeping bag wash and repair services through its inhouse Service Centre. Customers can have their kit expertly washed and dried, restoring the insulation’s full heat trapping potential and returning them to peak performance.
