Lear Miller wins Bike Category at the Illume Awards 2026

American photographer Lear Miller has won the Bike Category at the Illume Awards 2026 for an atmospheric image of rider Hannah Bergemann captured during Chris Benchetler’s Mountains of the Moon project in Pacific City, Oregon.

The image was made during four overnight sessions in challenging rain, with the team filming and photographing from around 10pm until 4am. The judging panel praised the contrast between the dark forest and vivid colours.

The category is supported by Canyon and World Bicycle Relief. Miller receives photography equipment and publication in the Illume Photobook 2026.

The Snow Category winner is due to be announced on 23 October. Photograph credit: Lear Miller / The Illume.
