Montane has announced it will forego promotional activity around this year’s Black Friday event, instead opting to donate its campaign budget to help protect the Lake District National Park and support the Green Friday movement.
Montane will once again donate its Black Friday marketing budget to Fix the Fells instead of promoting discounting on its website.
The move will see Montane take steps to help protect the Lake District for future generations, with the donation going directly towards the maintenance of the upland Lakeland fells and in turn helping to combat the damaging effects of erosion in the region by maintaining over 344 upland paths across a 410-mile stretch.

Fix The Fells
Fix the Fells are a team of skilled and extremely dedicated rangers and volunteers. Their mission is to protect and reduce erosion in the Lake District; a UNESCO World Heritage Site and perhaps one of Britain’s best-loved landscapes – a place worth protecting. Their invaluable work involves tackling the erosion problem head on by heading into the Lake District fells throughout the year, to repair and maintain 344 upland paths covering 410 miles (661kn).
As part of Montane’s commitment to protecting our playgrounds and correcting our path, we are proud to support the tireless work of Fix the Fells volunteers and rangers. Keep reading to find out how and what you can do to support their cause.
By working together we’re helping to keep the Lake District a special place for future generations to enjoy.
“We always look forward to working with Montane, whose values so align with ours. They’re diligent, focused, and understand the issues facing the uplands. We know we’re going to achieve good work looking after the Lake District’s mountain paths and landscapes together.”
– Matthew Tweed, Volunteer Development Ranger
