Montane, the British performance clothing and equipment brand renowned for its relentless pursuit of lightweight and efficient gear, has officially released its 2024 Impact Report, highlighting the brand’s unwavering commitment to operating responsible, ethical practices, and inclusivity.
This latest report details Montane’s CSR achievements over the past year while outlining ambitious goals for the future, aligned with its long-term vision to improve its environmental and social impact.
The report is now live on the Montane website, titled “2024 Impact Report: Enabling a Journey Through Nature, Knowing Our Impact and Correcting Our Path”. It explores Montane’s core initiatives, including:
- Memberships and Certifications: Third party verification plays a key part in supply chain traceability and transparency. Montane sets high standards for the suppliers and manufacturers we work with, and the memberships and certifications Montane have adopted help to ensure that these are being continuously met.
- Diversity & Inclusion: 65% of Montane’s product range is now available in extended sizes. The brand also champions underrepresented voices, supporting athletes like Jesse Dufton, a blind climber redefining limits.
- Commitment to Conservation: Montane employees dedicated over 200 volunteer hours in 2024 to conservation projects with partners like Fix the Fells and the Tyne Rivers Trust. These efforts are complemented by financial contributions to protect natural landscapes.
- Built to Last: Montane prioritises durability, designing long-lasting products to reduce waste and environmental impact. Initiatives like its repair services and Repurposed program further support this by extending product lifespans.
- Ethical Trading: As a Fair Wear Foundation Leader and bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNER, Montane has driven improvements in worker safety, social compliance, and environmental standards across its supply chain.
- 2024 Milestones: The report highlights progress such as establishing a carbon baseline and accelerating efforts to eliminate PFAS chemicals from products by 2026.
“2024 was another busy year for us, continuing Montanes charitable commitments, building on past projects and kick-starting new ones,” said Anna Pitman, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager. “Measuring our carbon footprint for the first time has given us greater insight into our impact that will help to guide the next steps we take.”
