Rab strengthens offering with lightweight & strong Muon Packs
British outdoor brand Rab (owned by Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd.) has strengthened its pack offering with the introduction of the lightweight and strong Muon packs, designed for long distance thru-hiking and trekking in Spring/Summer 2024.
Available in four different sizes for men and women, the ultralight and streamlined Muon packs are specifically engineered for fast-paced hikers seeking to minimise weight.
Rab’s pack offering embodies the brand’s no-nonsense, ascent-ready ethos and their expertise in designing rugged, high performance mountain clothing and equipment, providing absolute protection, comfort and freedom on the trail or peak. Crafted from extremely lightweight yet ultra-tough 100D high tenacity nylon (85% recycled) with Spectra® Ripstop fabric and a lightweight back system, the new Muons reduce excess weight while offering exceptional strength, capable of supporting heavy loads with superior stability. Featuring a roll-top closure and removable lid for weight reduction when necessary, these packs effortlessly adapt to various trail needs, whether it involves packing additional gear, accelerating pace, or covering more ground. In addition to their durability and lightweight design, the Spectra® Ripstop fabric boasts UV-resistant properties, ideal for hiking at higher elevations.
The close-fitting TRI-FLEX™ carry system features a wrap-around harness, shaped lumbar pad, and supportive hipbelt, providing reliable comfort that endures over long distances. The fit can be customized using the forward-pull hipbelt, complemented by ultralight compression straps that aid in load stabilization. The lower compression strap doubles as storage, perfect for stowing a sleep mat.
The large front stash easily accommodates extra layers, while side stash pockets and harness pockets provide on-the-go access to water and snacks. There’s also space for a 3L hydration bladder inside, and poles can be fixed to the outside of the pack.

ND explained: Rab’s ND (‘Narrow Dimensions’) packs are built with different proportions to their regular packs, making them ideally suited to anyone with a smaller frame. They’re designed to provide a comfortable and supportive fit for women or men with a narrower build.
