New appointments at Cobnor Activities Centre Trust

The Trustees of Cobnor Activities Centre Trust have announced two new senior management promotions to develop the Trust’s highly popular outdoor activities for young people, school and youth groups and the local community.

Miranda Powley has been appointed as Chief Operations Officer and Tom Collins has been appointed as Chief Activities Officer at Cobnor Activities Centre Trust.

Matthew Wright, Chairman of the Trustee Board, said: “The Trustees strongly believe Miranda brings a wealth of knowledge having served as Operations Manager for 13 years. Tom’s maturity and capability demonstrated in his previous role as Chief Instructor made him the natural candidate for the role. The combination of both in these new roles will provide outstanding consistency and stability in the leadership of our fantastic staff team.”

Tom will be supported by three new Lead Activity Instructors: Greg Kies (Sailing); Tim Burgess (Land) and Dane Hitchcock (Paddling).

Greg, who grew up sailing in Chichester Harbour, completed his RYA Senior Instructor course at Cobnor before joining in 2022 as a Senior Instructor. Now assuming the role of Lead Instructor, he’s thrilled to work alongside Tim and Dane, stating, “I am delighted to be taking on the additional responsibilities of Lead Instructor, as part of the new team.”

Tim, with 33 years as a Wholetime Firefighter, transitioned from casual instructor to permanent staff, following his retirement in 2020. As a qualified First Aid instructor, he also holds a wealth of outdoor qualifications. “I try my hand at all disciplines, on the land or the water, as I love being outdoors,” said Tim. “We very much look forward to Dane joining us next week.”

In addition, two new Trustees have recently joined the Board of Trustees. Jeremy Drummond has been a regular volunteer at the Trust with many years in sales and marketing has stepped up to the Board alongside Pip Tyler, founder and former director of Neilson Active Holidays.

Matthew Wright added:“We look forward to working together with our newly strengthened team to continue to provide high quality outdoor experiences for young people, both on and off the water.”
