UYN to unveil footwear and technical apparel at Pitti Uomo
UYN, Unleash Your Nature, is set to unveil its latest footwear and technical apparel at the Pitti Uomo, taking place at the Fortezza da Basso, Florence (13-16 June).
Enter the post-synthetic era is the UYN message for the 2023 edition of Pitti Uomo, where the Italian brand is presenting its SS24 shoe and apparel collections. The new shoe collection and innovative Self Layer range for outdoor and active life features materials derived from plants and is enhanced through biotechnology.
The functional designs inspired by nature, and revolutionary construction solutions focuses on both sustainability and performance.
UYN® shoes, born in the Italian Alps to climb the city
UYN’s new proposal in footwear takes inspiration from nature to create technical models that support the active person in metropolitan adventures as well as in outdoor explorations. The sock-engineered upper, without seams, which is made possible by a technique exclusive to the brand, respects the natural shape of the foot and guarantees a superior level of comfort.
The new Urban Trail outsole takes inspiration from nature, with the forefoot mirroring the hoof of the ibex, the best climber in nature, while the heel reproduces that of a horse. Combining these two features ensures optimal traction and walking comfort all day.
The Aethon – made from a composite of EVA and sugarcane foam – has been developed to reduce UYN’s environmental impact and, like the Arion, is made of Flexicorn, a bio-fibre derived from corn seeds. The Artax, the third model of the SS24 line, continues the bio-based product development with an upper made from a composite mix of cotton and Washi paper.
The result is a range of exceptionally cool and comfortable shoes for all urban occasions.
UYN® bio-based Self Layer range
UYN is revolutionising the outdoor world with the 100% bio-based Self Layer range. The radical new type of product is a garment to be worn in contact with the skin, that performs the function of a technical underwear with the look of an outerwear. Designed for outdoor activities, but also for those who rely on the performance of technical garments every day, the Self Layer is available in four versions inspired by the elements of fire, air, water and earth: SparkCross, AeroCross, HydroCross and TerraCross.
Each version is made in regular and comfort fits. All Self Layer models are 100% bio-based, made with evolved biomaterials that are not derived from petrochemical substances and are without synthetic fibres. Coolth_SL is the main biofibre and is obtained from the linters of cotton. This biodegradable and compostable fibre is characterised by its extraordinary hygroscopic capacity. It can quickly absorb moisture produced by the body without being wet, generating a sensation of freshness. Thanks to the almost perfectly circular cross-section of the fibre and the smooth structure, Coolth_SL is soft on the skin and does not create abrasions.
Thanks to the studies carried out by AREAS (Academy for Research and Engineering in Apparel and Sport), the modern research laboratory that will be officially opened to the public in October, UYN has developed new-generation bio-materials starting with vegetable ingredients, enhanced through the brand’s proprietary technologies: resistance, breathability, elasticity, fast drying and odour neutralisation. These characteristics of UYN’s bio-technological products are the perfect combination of sustainability and performance.
