Scottish outdoor brand Keela claims double win at PCIAW Awards
Scottish outdoor brand, Keela, has taken home two accolades from the PCIAW Awards 2022, claiming the ‘Best PPE Accessory’ and ‘Nearshore Manufacturing Award’.
The ‘Best PPE Accessory’ award was claimed for the production of the maternity zip-in panel, an accessory created to provide comfort and protection for expecting parents, allowing them to continue taking advantage of their performance clothing through each stage of their pregnancy. The one-of-a-kind panel can be used across Keela’s full range of jackets, attaching to the main zip and being available in a range of sizes and fabrics, and was developed as part of Keela’s strategy to offer cost-effective, durable, and versatile clothing solutions that will increase the longevity of their product’s lifespan, and thus reduce the brand’s impact on the environment.
The ‘Nearshore Manufacturing Award’ was claimed for the state-of-the-art facilities at the brand’s production site in Fife, Scotland. The site produces a range of items, including fire-resistant coveralls used by UK police forces, as well as waterproof trousers and tactical smocks.
Yvette Ashby, CEO and founder of PCIAW, said: “This year’s PCIAW Awards competition reached new heights, with an even wider range of global entrants, all of whom displayed an exceptional amount of talent and ingenuity. We are proud, therefore, to have recognised Keela for their maternity zip-in panel, which will make a tremendous contribution to the world of jobsite workwear, in addition to selecting Keela for ‘Nearshore Manufacturing Award’, recognising their outstanding achievement.”
Keela Sales Director, Sam Fernando, added: “At Keela our principles have been built on our long-standing beliefs of IQT (Innovation, Quality, Technology), we pride ourselves on our approach to design and research. It is award wins such as these from renowned and prestigious organisations such as the PCIAW that highlight the amazing work we are doing at Keela, as we look to further push the boundaries of outdoor gear and textile design over the coming years.”
