Scottish outdoor clothing brand, Keela, has achieved further success, with the brand’s Arran Jacket winning the Eco Award at Slide & OTS (Outdoor Trade Show) Winter 2025.
Positioned as a ‘timeless classic infused with modern functionality’, the jacket is made in the UK with locally sourced fabrics and produced in Keela’s Fife-based factory. The Arran utilises Halley Stevenson waxed cotton, which balances durability, breathability, and water resistance and is created using sustainable manufacturing processes, and HD Wool Evolve Active, which provides renewable, biodegradable warmth in the harshest conditions, combining sustainability with high performance. The result is a waxed cotton shell, providing a naturally weatherproof barrier, with the robust weave ensuring reliable durability.
The win was announced at Slide & OTS Winter, the UK winter trade show for snow sport and outdoor enthusiasts, with the awards designed to reward exhibiting brands for technical innovation and excellence. Winners were announced in front of exhibitors, SIGB members and the media, with the Eco Award judged by Protect Our Winters (POW), a non-profit organisation that helps passionate outdoor people protect the places and experiences they love from climate change.
The awards are spread across seven different categories: Accessories, Outdoor Clothing, Outdoor Hardware, Snowsports Clothing, Snowsport Hardware, a ‘Fresh Brand’ category open only to first-time exhibitors/brands at the show, and the aforementioned ‘Eco Award’ category for brands that show particular environmentally friendly credentials.
Keela Sales Director, Sam Fernando, said: “We are incredibly proud to receive the Eco Award for the Arran Jacket at Slide & OTS Winter 2025. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, as well as our commitment to sustainability and innovation. The Arran Jacket perfectly embodies Keela’s heritage of producing high-performance, durable outdoor clothing while prioritising the health of our planet and is a direct reflection of our ongoing efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible practices into every stage of our product development, from locally sourced materials to sustainable manufacturing processes.”
The award is the latest recognition of Keela’s work across the industry and further afield, with the brand being recognised with several recent awards, including being nominated for ‘Scottish Family Business of the Year’ and winning ‘Sustainability Brand of the Year’ and ‘Best Waterproof Jacket UK Brand 2024’ by TGO Magazine and SME News respectively.
