Brazilian ultrarunner Fernanda Maciel completed a 173km crossing of Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni salt flat in under 20 hours, setting a new fastest known time. The crossing took place on 28 September 2026 on the world’s largest salt flat. The endurance challenge combined extreme distance with the high-altitude, exposed terrain of the Bolivian landscape.
