JACK WOLFSKIN’s Wolftrail 28 RECCO hiking back- pack, available in summer 2022, has been awarded the “Deutscher Nachhaltig- keitspreis Design” (German Sustainability Award for Design). The backpack, featuring a Recco tracking chip that aids in search and rescue operations if you’re lost in the woods, and made entirely from recycled materials, is an innovative accomplishment in every facet. Its Aeroshape carrying harness is unique in its combination of light weight, comfort and resource-saving design. On December 2 JACK WOLFSKIN received the award in Düsseldorf at the annual ceremony, held in strict compliance with the 2G plus regulation. With a total of eight different categories, more than 1,000 candidates and 2,000 guests, the German Sustain- ability Award is the leading event of this kind in Europe. The German Sustainability Award recognises future-oriented, innovative and sustainable design solutions.

“Receiving the German Sustainability Award is tremendously important to us, as it shows that our dedicated commit- ment to sustainability is recognised and appreciated in the marketplace. The award confirms that we are on the right track,” says Daniele Grasso, JACK WOLFSKIN’s Vice President Product & Apparel. “Our Equipment Team has done an ex- ceptional job creating a product that is ground-breaking in terms of eco-friendly production as well as responsible use of resources, while at the same time providing users with functional features and straightforward handling.”

“JACK WOLFSKIN’s Wolftrail 28 RECCO is perfectly adapted to the requirements of today’s users, while down to the last detail demonstrating, transparently and comprehensibly, the outdoor specialist’s ecological and climate-conscious attitude”, states the German Sustainability Award Design jury’s assessment. “Individuals who like to venture out to experience nature, demand products that contribute to preserving nature. With its innovative, bluesign® certified backpack, the brand demonstrates that it has understood its target audience.”

For the 2022 summer season, JACK WOLFSKIN positions itself as a driver of innovation with regard to sustainable equipment. The Wolftrail 28 RECCO, as part of the ambitious Equipment collection, consists entirely of recycled materials, certified according to the Global Recycling Standard (GRS). A key design milestone is the new Aeroshape body con- tact carrying harness. Its single-piece Airmesh back panel is manufactured from recycled polyester is produced through a very efficient manufacturing process that enables JACK WOLFSKIN to significantly save on material and deliver a light weight design. A special spacer fabric provides optimal air circulation, ergonomics and carrying comfort. In case of emergency, the integrated RECCO chip assists Search and Rescue teams in tracking the distressed individual’s position, thus providing the backpack’s carrier with a vital, possibly life-saving benefit.
