Montane partners with BMC to host the Skills Tent at Keswick Mountain Festival

British outdoor brand Montane has announced its plans to again work with the BMC and sponsor the 2022 Keswick Mountain Festival which will take place in Keswick from May 20-22, 2022.
Positioned as the UK’s premier mountain festival, Keswick Mountain Festival aims to promote inclusivity in the outdoors and encourages visitors to develop their skills and discover new ones in the heart of the Lake District National Park.
Now in its 15th year, Keswick Mountain Festival will welcome exhibiting outdoor brands such as Montane alongside live music acts, theatre performances and a host of outdoor activities from the Coledale Hike, to the Hells in the Fells cycle, through to the Junior 5k Run.
As part of the event, Montane will be returning with the BMC this year to host a number of skills sessions set to test visitors’ navigation skills, vigour, and emergency responses. On the Saturday, Montane athlete and participant of the BBC’s series Special Forces, Katy Parrot will be challenging guests to replicate her training for the Montane Arctic Ultra by navigating a slalom course whilst manoeuvring a 4 x 4 tyre attached to a harness. Though the minus temperatures and battering cold winds Katy endured are not expected at the Festival, visitors can experience some of what it felt like to train and take part in the Artic Ultra.
Montane athletes Jenny Tough and Jordan Wylie will also be in attendance and will be hosting inspiring talks and participating in additional secret events across the weekend. Back for 2022, Montane will round off the activities for Saturday by partnering with the BMC to host the not-to-be-missed BMC & Montane Mountain Pub Quiz.
Montane’s Global Marketing Manager, Matthew Hickman, said: “It is great to be back for 2022 and to again be able to partner with the BMC and to sponsor the Keswick Mountain Festival. The weekend offers lovers of the outdoors the opportunity to meet with like-minded individuals and try out new pursuits, something we champion at Montane.
“We are excited to bring with us some great athletes, all with their own inspiring stories to share with the crowds. The activities we have planned mean that the event is shaping up to be one of our best ones yet and we cannot wait to welcome visitors to the Montane x BMC stand.”
Emma Travers, Marketing and Events Co-ordinator at the BMC, said: “The Keswick Mountain Festival gives us the opportunity to partner with our good friends at Montane and help to develop the skills of those looking to further their outings in the mountains and on rock, or those just interested in giving a new skill a go. We are seeing an increase in participation across all the disciplines we represent, and the Keswick Mountain Festival has a great tradition of exposing visitors to new activities which is something we actively encourage at the BMC.”
