Outdooractive launches Scout AI assistant for route planning

Outdooractive has launched Outdooractive Scout, an artificial-intelligence assistant designed to help users discover routes and destinations for outdoor activities.

The assistant is built directly into Outdooractive and is available through the company’s website on desktop and mobile browsers. Access is currently limited to Pro+ members.

Route suggestions shaped around the user

According to Outdooractive, Scout can suggest routes and destinations based on what a user has in mind. The assistant can draw on previous routes and saved lists, take account of what the user is viewing on the map and indicate when a route may not be the right fit for that day.

Users can open Scout through the icon in the bottom-right corner of outdooractive.com and ask natural-language questions. Examples supplied by the company include requests for routes that match earlier activities, beginner-friendly options nearby or a trip that fits a limited time window and reaches a lake.

Outdooractive said the new tool is intended to reduce the time involved in comparing routes and destinations across multiple browser tabs, turning a broad idea for a day outdoors into a more focused set of suggestions.

Available through Pro+

Outdooractive Scout forms part of the Pro+ membership. The company is offering a seven-day Pro+ trial for people who want to test the assistant.

Further details about the feature and how it works are available on the Outdooractive website.
