DEUTER LAUNCHES NEW GUIDE: THE ALL-TIME CLASSICALPINE PACK THAT KEEPS GETTING BETTER

The new Guide boasts even better features, carrying comfort, and is made in a more sustainable way to meet the needs of alpinists today

A popular choice with mountain guides and alpinists, the deuter Guide backpack has set the standard for years. However, even an icon needs to grow and improve. The new Guide backpack from deuter is for experienced alpinists and mountaineers. They are looking for a comfortable solid fit and durability for their extended alpine projects. It is designed to be used for a range of activities in the most challenging mountain conditions. In these conditions, adaptability, reliable performance, and comfort are key.

deuter’s proven Alpine back system gives this pack a secure fit and excellent load control. An ergonomically shaped PE backplate with a sewn-in spring steel frame maintains the pack’s shape and offers stability, no matter how heavy the load. Additionally, with side compression straps, it keeps the bulk of the pack close to the body’s centre of gravity. Clever features like ActiveFit shoulder straps that move with the body and ergonomic hip fins with Pull-Forward adjustment, give the Guide added comfort points.

The Guide comes with full alpine-grade features including detachable hip fins and lid, gear loops and straps, ice axe attachments on both sides, ski attachments at the side, and a rope strap on top. A mesh helmet holder and extendable pack volume makes the Guide even more versatile for use in a range of alpine sports. Whether it’s wearing a harness to climb through exposed terrain, or backcountry ski touring, the Guide adapts well.

Kathryn Roberts, deuter UK ambassador, says:“This Guide is everything you could ask for in an Alpine climbing pack – down to the very small details! It’s been my go to pack for a number of years and it is a no brainer as to why it wouldn’t be! One of my favourite features of the Guide has to be the Alpine back system. It offers a solid and secure fit that allows you to move in Alpine terrain with comfort, and offers stability even with a heavy loaded pack.

Another mega feature for me is how the body of the Guide is 100% recycled ripstop – I have found this really useful in the mountains and it is super durable and abrasion resistant which will extend the pack life considerably. Finally, I don’t think I have ever had a pack that packs so neatly. Gear loops and straps, ice axes attachments on both sides, rope strap and a mesh helmet attachment – ideal!”

Guy Millership, UK Country Manager at deuter, says:“The pack that made me fall in love with deuter. The Guide is the perfect all-rounder for the British mountains and beyond. If you want a pack that is great for carrying your rack and rope on that walk into the single pitch crag, can be stripped down for a multipitch mountain route or carry your kit for a day in Scottish winter conditions, the Guide does it all, with comfort. This is my go-to pack for everything, I’ve always loved the floating lid, removable hip belt, and robust fabrics. The new version excels with improved carry comfort with the removable back panel giving the pack genuine stability where other packs fail.”

The Guide is made from alpine-grade, 100% recycled ripstop material, which means it’s extremely durable and resistant to abrasion and extreme weather. The backpack also protects contents effectively from moisture, dust and contact with rock. Buckles in weatherproof material give the pack safer handling and a longer lifespan. It’s an ideal pack for mountaineering or ice climbing in the Scottish highlands.

deuter is being true to its long-standing tradition of offering alpinists a proven solution for challenging mountain terrain, and one that’s also more environmentally friendly. It is an accredited bluesign® product, holds Green Button certification, and is made without PFAS. Like all deuter products from summer 2025, it is also ClimatePartner certified. This makes it a sustainable choice for mountain adventurers.
