Get ready for the Fjällräven Classic 2025

Multi-day trekking for everyone

Fjällräven Classic, Fjällräven’s largest global event, returns in 2025 with seven treks across four continents from July to December. Taking place in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the UK, the USA, Korea, and Chile, each will welcome curious trekkers with a unique blend of terrain, climate, flora, fauna, and culture.

In these local environments, Fjällräven Classic gives participants from around the world the chance to live the brand’s mission of enabling people to spend more time in nature. As they explore and interact with nature, participants learn to appreciate it, respect it, and care for it – ultimately leaving nature in better shape than they found it.

Trekking the ‘Fjällräven Way’ (together with others)

Gear up, unplug, and get ready to meet a global community of likeminded outdoor explorers, because Fjällräven Classic is for everyone; from those new to nature to seasoned trekkers. Established in 1979 as ‘Fjällräven Weeks’, founder Åke Nordin wanted to help people experience multi-day trekking even if they were not quite confident they could do it themselves.

In 2005, the event was relaunched in the form known today but the original concept lives on. While participants trek at their own pace with everything on their back, Fjällräven Classic provides the route, infrastructure, and opportunity for people from all walks of life to trek together, mingle on the trail and hang out with each other at camp. Unsurprisingly, Fjällräven Classic is unique for its repeat trekkers. In fact, some take part year after year, while others use it as a venue for reunions, and even marriage proposals!

Learning how to be self-sufficient in nature

According to Fjällräven’s Global Events Manager Carl Hård af Segerstad, ‘Understanding how to behave in nature is the key to ensuring it is better looked after. This is what makes Fjällräven Classic special.’ Indeed, as they take part in Fjällräven Classic, trekkers gain direct knowledge about how to be self-sufficient in nature. By building their outdoor competence, they can then teach others what they have learned on the trail when they return home. Fjällräven provides pre-trek guidance for all Fjällräven Classic participants but also encourages them to take an active role in becoming more self-sufficient in nature.

Tips for boosting your trekking independence

  1. Prepare! Multi-day treks are not a walk in the park, so it pays to ensure body and mind are ready for what is ahead. Since they will be carrying an average of 14 to 17 kilograms for several days, participants should familiarise themselves with any new kit, as well as the fit and weight of their backpack by loading it up at home and taking a hike (ideally across some rugged terrain).
  2. Learn to cook freeze-dried food at home using a camping stove. Not only can participants taste test what they want to eat while trekking, they can also decide which snacks to add to their packing list.
  3. Know when to take a break. Speed is not the objective of a positive trekking experience. If participants are tired, they should sit down and recharge with food and water. If the weather is poor, it is recommended they pitch their tent, make food, change into dry clothes, and get ready to hit the trail again.
  4. Get to know the gear (especially if it is new). To ensure setting up camp goes smoothly during a trek, participants are encouraged to test pitching their tent at home, turn on their stove to make sure it is in working order, and prepare their first-aid kit.
