In 2020, Eddie Bauer turned 100. From designing the first patented down jacket in America to outfitting the first American ascent of Mt. Everest, they’ve built quite a legacy of inspiration, innovation, and exploration. Eddie Bauer sadly passed away in 1986, but the brand continued.
In 2009 they developed the First Ascent line which involves professional mountain guides and elite athletes in the design and development of technical products. These guides are involved from concept to finished product, working with the design team to build each piece and then push it to its limits before it’s approved. Only when the guides say a product is ready it is made available to you.
To celebrate 10 years of First Ascent, in true Eddie Bauer style, two of the guides submitted K2, one of which became the first woman to climb both K2 and Everest in the same year.
Today, their mission is to inspire and enable all people to connect with the outdoors, and to create cutting-edge gear while reducing the impact on the environment.
