The North Face: Sign up to clean up

Conversations can be complex, but sometimes solutions are simple. Together with activists around the world, in celebration of Earth Day, The North Face is removing as much single-use pollution as possible from local parks and wild places through the Clean Up Hikes initiative.

Don’t let nature down, help clean it up.

Through incredible partnerships with organisations across Europe, last year The North Face helped partner organisations successfully clear more than 4,500 kilometres of outdoor spaces, restoring mountains, trails and natural habitats from pollution and waste.

This year The North Face is enabling even more opportunities to protect the environment with Clean Up Hikes. Anyone can use the map online to find a hike in their local area with The North Face’s Athletes, Explorer Team and Charity Partners. If there isn’t one close to them, they can submit their own team to take part by entering just a few details to #SignUpToCleanUp.

Through the organised events, teams will receive everything they need to help collect and dispose of the waste, helping to protect the planet, one piece of trash at a time. Some of the incredible partners include Trash Free Trails (UK), Patron (DE), CleanALP (IT), Mountain Riders (FR) and Summit Foundation (CH).

For those looking to be guided by the brand ambassadors, Clean Up Hikes are also being hosted by The North Face athletes including David Göttler and Ida-Sophie Hegemann, plus individuals from the Explorer Team, Ben Ankobiah, Rene Claussnitzer and Petra Cola.

In addition to the Clean Up Hikes, in collaboration with conscious creativebrand Are You Mad, The North Face will be restoring the Ripple Nature Reserve in Dagenham, London. Currently closed to the public due to the volume of waste in the area, we will be working together to clean up the nature reserve. Rejuvenating the natural habitat for animals, stripping the land of hazardous single use plastic ruining biodiversity and making it safe for people to explore the outside space once again.

Sustainability is not a campaign and Earth Day is just one out of 365. The North Face has a responsibility to protect all our spaces, ensuring they’re there to explore and enjoy for generations to come.

The brand continues to be committed to Science Based Targets to minimise the impact on the planet. We’re working towards making all of our products from recycled, regenerative or responsibly-sourced renewable fabrics, helping to minimise the environmental footprint on the planet. As we look to the next 50 years of exploration, protecting our planet and environment is more important than ever, which is why it’s vital to double down on sustainability efforts and factoring it into every facet of the business from design and manufacturing, to production and packaging.

This year it’s simple. The North Face is protecting our world’s wild places, one piece of litter at a time.
