Smartwool continues to strengthen sales team with new hires across the EMEA Region

Outdoor socks and apparel company Smartwool, announces four new team hires to recently join their growing EMEA sales team.

Where previously the brand worked with independent sales agents, they are fully committed to investing into the region and supporting their wholesale partners better than ever.

“As a brand we truly believe in a “people-first” approach, so we are very much motivated to fuel this amazing business growth with on-going work and investment to make our team more agile, stronger, and ready for what’s next. Our current hires are nothing but a reflection of it.” says Dariusz Boniecki, EMEA Sales & Marketing Director

In August, 2022 Smartwool hired a new Sales Manager, Valerio Gulli, who spent 10+ years at Nike as Specialty Running Representative. As Strategic Account Manager for Intersport Italy previous to this, Valerio built a strong network driving the integrated account team to successfully deliver the EMEA strategy for the market, offering solutions to serve the consumer with a unique and strong message that would maximise profitability in the long term. Valerio now oversees the entire Smartwool EMEA wholesale market and sets strategies cross-region. Born a footballer turned mid-distance track runner, his affection for the outdoors includes running, road biking, hiking and hitting the slopes, activities he will certainly have the opportunity to nurture being based in Stabio, Switzerland at the Smartwool HQ.

“Valerio is a dynamic leader and proven operator; he is bringing many years of professional experience in business management from Nike (among others) but, what is equally important, he is passionate about Outdoor. He shares his DNA with our “Infectious Instigator” customers. We are happy to welcome him to our team.” Boniecki continues.

In Germany, Thomas Paulick is Sales Manager for the country and has been with Smartwool for four years. Thomas was promoted internally by VF and now reports to Valerio.

Dariusz Boniecki reaffirms saying, “Germany, as one of our key markets, requires special attention from Smartwool. On top of market success there was also a need for deeper communication with our local customer base. This is why we are moving away from the agency business model and are going 100% direct. We are introducing a new team, in which Ronald and Dominik will play key roles.”

Finally, Dominik Rauch and Ronald Hübner take on the role as Sales Representatives for Smartwool Germany. Dominik’s nearly 10-year service within VF retail includes Store Manager for The North Face and for Vans, whereas Ronald comes to Smartwool from LOWA where he was in charge of approximately 200 partners. Dominik will focus on South and West Germany including Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, and Ronald will cover the Bavarian region for wholesale partners.
