Patagonia hires Stephan Hagenbusch as Marketplace Director, EMEA
Patagonia, the Ventura, California-based outdoor apparel brand has hired Stephan Hagenbusch as marketplace director, EMEA.
A purpose-driven, outdoor sports veteran with almost 20 years’ experience working in the industry, he will lead the marketplace team throughout EMEA. In this role he will oversee all wholesale, ecommerce and retail activities for Patagonia, as well as supporting functions vital to enabling valuable engagement with customers and communities.
Originally from Germany, Hagenbusch is relocating to Patagonia’s European headquarters in Amsterdam from Innsbruck, Austria, where he has held the role of general manager at Black Diamond Equipment for the last five years. He is passionate about many of the sports for which Patagonia builds technical products, including alpine climbing, skiing, trekking, and mountain biking. He has written guidebooks and articles on outdoor sports as well as research publications on climate and economic issues. Prior to joining Black Diamond Equipment over 10 years ago, Hagenbusch held management roles in marketing and communications at Amer Sports. He will be joined in Amsterdam by his wife and rescue dog Linda.
Nina Hajikhanian, general manager, EMEA, Patagonia, comments: “This role, spearheading our marketplace team for EMEA, is an integral one for Patagonia, so we knew we needed someone with a mix of technical expertise and creativity, who shares our passion for outdoor sports and brings a healthy dose of down-to-earth collaboration. Stephan brings these attributes in spades and we’re looking forward to immersing him in the Patagonia business.”
Hagenbusch adds: “While Patagonia undoubtedly stands for high quality, technical products, this company’s reputation goes way further, reaching beyond outdoor communities. Patagonia’s culture, values, and commitment to modeling a different way of doing business, are what make me psyched. As someone who has spent my life playing in the mountains, I’ve seen first-hand the climate impacts being suffered across Europe, from melting glaciers to snow declines, and am looking forward to bringing to life Patagonia’s purpose: We’re in business to save our home planet.”
