New Balance strengthens commitment to trail running with sponsorship of Mont-Blanc Marathon
The Mont-Blanc Marathon stands as one of the world’s most famous trail events
New Balance and Mont-Blanc Marathon forge sponsorship ahead of 2025 edition to inspire runners of all levels to take on the outdoors.
New Balance’s commitment to trail running is deeply rooted in its legacy. Since 1906, the brand has been crafting high-quality, innovative products designed to meet the diverse needs of runners. Now, in sponsoring the Mont-Blanc Marathon, New Balance is reinforcing this commitment, inspiring runners of all levels to embrace the challenges of the outdoors in Chamonix, France.
The Mont-Blanc Marathon stands as one of the world’s most famous trail events, with its eight flagship races attracting nearly 10,000 participants, from children and youth to elite and amateur athletes. A pioneer in mountain running since the first edition of the Cross du Mont-Blanc in 1979, the event is also a pioneer in its commitment to preserving its exceptional alpine setting through committed environmental actions.
Organised by the Chamonix Sport Club, a non-profit association promoting local sports and raising them to international standards since 1905, the club has had at least one member participate in every Winter Olympic Games since 1924. Working with New Balance was a natural choice, as both organisations share a rich heritage and a dedication to making sport accessible to all.
Bruno Laroque, Senior Marketing Director at New Balance EMEA, said: “The Mont-Blanc Marathon is not just an incredible event with a rich history, but a celebration of what trail running is about: breathtaking nature, challenging terrain, and the spirit of community. This relationship aligns perfectly with New Balance’s dedication to the sport, and we’re excited about coming together ahead of an exceptional edition next year.”
Fred Comte, Director of Chamonix Sport Club, said: “Chamonix Sport Club and New Balance share a heritage that spans over a century, built on strong, lasting values. We were particularly impressed by New Balance’s history, their philosophy, and commitment to youth development, which mirrors our mission to foster and promote sport. This shared vision has driven us to launch an ambitious project, positioning the Young Race Marathon as the global benchmark for youth trail races and a platform for developing tomorrow’s elite athletes. With this five-year relationship and a focus on all Mont-Blanc Marathon races, we’re excited to create impactful, innovative projects that will elevate the sport to new heights.”
New Balance and the Mont-Blanc Marathon are united by their independent spirit and shared values that form the foundation of this relationship. Together, they aim to make a lasting impact on trail running in the Chamonix Valley, by strengthening the community and maintaining a strong focus on environmental responsibility.
Beyond title sponsorship by New Balance for the next five years, Chamonix will work to enhance the overall race experience for participants, spectators, and volunteers. Key efforts will include expanding live race coverage, developing the Young Race Marathon, elevating the 42km du Mont-Blanc by attracting more elite runners, and advancing environmental initiatives, particularly by reducing the carbon footprint of transportation.
Jean-Michel Faure-Vincent, Sports Marketing Trail Running at New Balance EMEA, said: “The Mont Blanc Marathon is an unmissable event for all trail running enthusiasts. We’re excited to make this event and its valley a key event for our New Balance Trail Running team, and to establish the The Mont Blanc Marathon as the world’s premier race for under 20 and under 23 runners – a platform for the best trail running talent out there.”
The next edition of the Mont-Blanc Marathon takes place from June 26th to 29th, 2025. Registration for the Duo Etoilé, the 90km, the 42km and the 23km of Mont-Blanc opens at 9 am on Thursday, October 24th.
