Montane pledge to protect ‘Outdoor Playground’ this Green Friday

British outdoor clothing brand, Montane, will be working with Fix the Fells and the George Fisher Tea Round this Black Friday and donating its campaign budget in a bid to help protect the Lake District National Park and support the Green Friday movement.
As part of its Green Friday initiative, Montane will forgo discounting on its website and instead, the brand will be donating its Black Friday budget of £2,500 to the Fix the Fells programme. Spearheaded by a group of volunteers, Fix the Fells repairs and maintains the mountain paths in the Lake District so that this ‘outdoor playground’ can be enjoyed by generations to come.
The donation will go directly towards the maintenance of the upland Lakeland fells and will in turn help to combat the damaging effects of erosion in the region by maintaining over 344 upland paths across a 410-mile stretch.
Alongside the donation, the outdoor brand continues to support for the George Fisher Tea Round challenge, a Keswick-based outdoor challenge with strong ties to the Fix the Fells initiative. Over Green Friday, Montane will be encouraging customers to engage with the challenge which sees participants explore paths in the Lake District, and in addition, the brand has pledged to match-fund the Fix The Fells donations received from any Tea Round runner. Since 2021, Montane has raised over £7,000 for the programme.
Speaking of the news, Montane’s Global Marketing Manager, Matthew Hickman, commented: “The great outdoors is our ultimate playground and so this Green Friday we are supporting the Fix The Fells programme in order to protect these natural environments for future generations. At Montane, we know that it is a privilege to explore this terrain and Green Friday enables us to revisit these commitments and reaffirm them through positive action; donating to a cause that matters to us.”
Montane’s support for the annual Green Friday movement alongside its continued work with organisations such as the European Outdoor Conservation Association [EOCA] and the British Mountaineering Council [BMC], further highlights the brand’s commitment to protecting the outdoor environment.
