British outdoor clothing and equipment brand, Montane, has released its SS23 collection with a focus on lighter and versatile kit to go further with less.
Designed with purpose, simplicity and consistency in mind, the new collection enables customers to connect with the outdoors in an accessible way, bringing innovative and sustainable changes in the legwear, run, lightweight insulation and fleece categories.
Each season Montane builds on its ‘More Sustainable Choice’ offering as part of the brand’s continued strategy to improve product transparency. For SS23, over 37% of the range is categorised as ‘More Sustainable Choice’, all of which utilise a minimum of 50% recycled or more sustainable materials.
For SS23, the outdoor brand has overhauled its legwear category to introduce sustainable PFC-free styles. Each legwear family has its own fits, fabrication and intended use, considering not only the user but also the environment.
Product highlights for men’s legwear include updates on the Terra franchise, introducing the new style Terra Lite, and the launch of new families: Tenacity, built for comfort and performance with a modern athletic fit; and Dynamic, designed for fast paced activities.
For the women’s legwear category, Montane has introduced the Terra Stretch and Stretch Lite in the Terra family; the Tucana franchise, designed for comfort and performance with a moder fit trim; and an update on the Ineo family, offering new colours for the Ineo Lite Pants.
A further innovation in the segment is related to run legwear. The brand has released the Slipstream franchise; tights and shorts for men and women providing a tailored fit for run specific activity.
The high-performance brand introduces waterproof-oriented new releases ideal for running and fast paced activities such as the Gore-Tex fabric Phase Nano Jacket for men; the Gore-Tex fabric Spirit Lite Jacket and Pants for both, men, and women; the Minimus Lite Jacket for both, men, and women; and the unisex Minimus Nano Pull-On and Pants. Additionally, three new styles have been launched in the windproof Featherlite franchise: men’s Featherlite Hoodie; men and women’s Featherlite Jackets; and men’s Featherlite Gilet.
Montane’s Global Marketing Manager, Matthew Hickman, commented: “The SS23 collection is all about being unencumbered. From a product perspective, this means that we design high-performance lightweight kit that gets our customers where they need to go, far and fast. And that is what our overarching campaign, ‘all you need is less’, reflects. We believe people don’t need to be weighed down by unnecessary kit to get the most out of their favourite outdoor pursuit. All they really need is the ambition to head out, and the right gear to get them there.”
The introduction of a new franchise in the midlayers category puts Montane at the centre of innovation. Designed for SS23 but looking towards AW23, the Fury fleece family has been built to excel in high movement activities. Additionally, the brand has launched updates and new releases in the men and women’s Protium franchise.
For the next to skin category, the Dart franchise is now more comprehensive, with lighter versions of the T-Shirt and long sleeve T-Shirt and made from 100% recycled polyester. The key highlight in this category is the Nano Zip T-Shirt, a high-performance gear with strong ability to wick moisture and dry quickly.
Furthermore, three new pieces have been introduced to insulation, providing a lightweight version of the previous season designs. The products are ideal for transitioning between seasons, when the weather is not that cold and yet you need something that is lighter and more packable. Amongst the new products, there is the Anti-freeze Lite Hoodie, for men and women; the Icarus Lite Hoodie, for men and women; and the Fireball Nano Hoodie, for men.
