Further expansion for Montane with launch of flagship Beijing store

British outdoor performance clothing and equipment brand, Montane, has launched its first store in Asia with the opening of the Montane Mono Retail store in Beijing, China.

Located in Beijing’s SKP-S luxury department store, the retail store marks Montane’s first venture into the continent, as the brand continues to grow its physical presence across the globe. The store, which will open in August 2024, will stock a capsule of Montane’s standout outdoor performance apparel and equipment from the range, including waterproof and insulated jackets, technical base layers, durable legwear, and versatile packs.

The strategic decision comes at a time of increased interest for outdoor pursuits in the territory on the back of the launch of the Development Plan for the Outdoor Sports Industry (2022 – 2025), which affirms the commitment to outdoor pursuits and a national trail system.

Speaking on the opening, Montane’s Marketing Director, Matthew Hickman, said: “The opening of Montane’s first store in Beijing is yet another hugely exciting development and solidifies the brand’s strong position in the market. Montane’s strategic expansion sees us enter into a new territory after establishing a presence in the DACH market and presents us with the opportunity to introduce the Montane design story to another audience.”

The news follows the opening of Montane’s showroom in Munich in 2022, established to display a selection of the brand’s standout kit from its existing range to retailers, distributors, and journalists.
