66°North announces SS5 Collection inspired by the blurred seasons of Iceland

Perfecting the art of layering through everyday dressing, newly introduced active collaborations and high summer capsules

Iceland outerwear brand 66°North announces the launch of its SS25 collection ‘Blurred Seasons’. Since the brand’s inception in 1926, it has been protecting Icelanders from the elements; with almost a century of perfecting its protective layers in some of the world’s harshest conditions, 66°North has had the best possible training in dressing for blurred seasons.

For SS25, 66°North exports its blurred season dressing beyond Iceland to the global community of adventurers, travellers, and everyday commuters experiencing a wide variety of climates and lifestyles. The protective layers provide the foundation to the entire collection, with the brand’s signature shell jackets at the forefront, such as their most technical Hornstrandir Gore-Tex Pro and everyday go-to Polartec Snæfell, whilst also offering lighter shell layers for the high summer. The collection provides layers for a variety of outdoor activities including running, golfing, camping, and hiking. Even urban dwellers are covered by a range of technical city wear.

This season, 66°North introduces its first design collaboration with long-term brand ambassador, renowned photographer, and Iceland-based explorer, Chris Burkhard. Chris believes the right gear can be an expression of style, functionality, and an extension of commitment to nature. The collection includes various multi-use jackets and shorts inspired by Chris’ love of movement. Tapping into the overarching theme of blurred seasons, the collection provides layers you can count on in the mountains, from the unexpected storm to a cold snap in the valley.

Also newly developed for SS25 is the brand’s new Helgafell running line, designed in partnership with Rory Griffin, avid trail runner and founder of Orienteer Magazine and Studio. Helgafell is a collection rooted in Iceland’s rugged and harsh terrain, designed with functionality at the forefront of each piece to manage weather comfortably and safely during trail runs. Whilst Helgafell is synonymous with Icelandic locals, it also taps into the UK and European sport of Fell Running. Born in the North of the UK, this sport takes athletes and enthusiasts out into diverse terrain where they must focus on their navigational skills and preparation for the journey, with functionality first. The range features shorts with stuff-able pockets and packable jackets with storage for race fuel and additional phone storage.

In addition to trail running, swim culture in Iceland is also a huge part of daily life. Immersing oneself in nature and wild bathing is a form of wellness for many Icelanders. As such, 66°North re-introduces their core Straumur swim line with updated fabric and colour options, while keeping the same practicality and comfort. Straumur is complemented by the new Reykjadalur swim capsule, which features stylish and flattering swim and bikini silhouettes.

66°North’s heritage ‘Kría’ capsule is also back for SS25. The collection, named after the arctic tern, dates to the nineties when the collection was first introduced in Iceland. This season, the inspiration comes from camping and love of the outdoors, bringing together both technical elements and lifestyle. Designed for the adventurer that appreciates comfort, expect Gore-Tex WINDSTOPPER shell jackets and shorts, alongside a workwear inspired shirt and comfortable hoodie and T-shirt options.  The Kría collection is accompanied by the new Raudasandur festival capsule. Raudasandur was a music festival in the West Fjords of Iceland that took place between 2008-2014, where the mountains served as a stunning backdrop for local creatives to enjoy music and embrace nature. The collection consists of a light packable coat, anorak, pants, and shorts made from recycled nylon for an all-summer wear.

Finally, moving between nature and urban life, the SS25 collection also offers a technical city wardrobe featuring drawstring sport-chic silhouettes, northern light tie-dye prints, and city commuting staples.
