Outdoor Industry Rallies to Support Adventure Bike Rider Yogesh After Bike Theft
The outdoor community is uniting to help round-the-world adventure bike rider Yogesh Alekari, after his journey was brought to an abrupt halt when his KTM 390 Adventure bike and essential equipment were stolen late last month.
On 28 August, Yogesh stopped for breakfast in Wollaton Park, Nottingham, but when he returned just an hour later, his bike, camping gear, ID, and cash were gone. What could have ended his adventure instead sparked a wave of support from across the outdoor industry.
Independent, family-run retailer Valley + Peak was one of the first outdoor retailers to step in, providing Yogesh with a carefully assembled care package of premium outdoor gear to ensure he could get back on the road. The package featured kit from leading brands including Big Agnes, Sea to Summit, and MSR, alongside one of Valley + Peak’s bestselling tents, the Nortent Vern 2. To keep him safe and comfortable on his journey, Yogesh also received ultralight cookware, a high-performance sleeping bag, a bug net hat, headlamp, microfibre lightweight towel, and a durable sleeping mat from the specialist retailer.
“Adventure riders like Yogesh are part of the wider outdoor community we serve,” said Jim De’Ath, Managing Director at Valley + Peak. “Having supported The Overland and ABR Festival this year, we recognise adventure bike riders as an important part of our community. When we heard about his situation, we knew we had to act quickly. It’s not just about replacing gear – it’s about supporting the spirit of adventure, exploration, and resilience that inspires us all.”
To further support Yogesh, Valley + Peak has launched a GoFundMe campaign, calling on the outdoor hiking, camping, and adventure community to come together and help replace his stolen gear and equipment. Every contribution will play a part in ensuring he can continue his ride around the world.
The campaign is already gaining momentum, with the Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) set to share Yogesh’s story in their newsletter. Valley + Peak is encouraging suppliers, partners, and fellow outdoor organisations to do the same, uniting the industry in a powerful show of solidarity and support for one of its own.
