Eva Walkner joins Rab and Lowe Alpine’s athlete team
Two-times Freeride World Tour Champion, mountain rescuer and sports journalist Eva Walkner (43) has joined the Rab and Lowe Alpine athlete team this winter.
Eva will bring in a wealth of experience from her active competition career and numerous ski expeditions as well as from her activities as a mountain rescuer, through to the development of Khroma, Rab’s collection for ski mountaineering.
After numerous successes as a race and freeride competition skier, Eva finished her active career in 2018. Since then, she has undertaken various ski expeditions, among others to Iran, India, the Alaska Range, South America and Greece. Furthermore, she managed several difficult descents, such as the Eiger west flank, the Y-Couloir in La Grave, the Canale del Prete in the Dolomites and the Dirty Needles in Alaska.
“The right kit is essential in demanding and challenging situations, even more, when it gets uncomfortable or you want to deliver 100 per cent,” Eva said. “At Rab, you can feel that the design team fully understands the various activities, the athletes and their needs and therefore crafts what I expect as a mountain person, freeride skier and mountain rescuer. I am very much looking forward to this partnership and to bring in my own experiences.”
Mario Alkov, Equip Country Manager GAS, added: “Eva is a precious addition to our athlete team. She is a successful ski and mountain athlete, has a wealth of product knowledge and is an amazing person. We look forward to working with her.”
