The start of something special! 13 Valleys Ultra
There’s one year to go to the inaugural 13 Valleys Ultra, an epic off road event in the stunning Lake District National Park, taking place from Friday 29 September to Sunday 1 October 2023.
The flagship event, in partnership with the Lake District National Park, will create the foundations of a year-round trail that links all 13 valleys of the Lake District National Park together for the first time.
There are four distances to choose from – 20km, 60km, 100km and 180km – each promising spectacular trail running over the fells, round the magnificent lakes, and through the unique valleys of the Lake District.
“We launched the 13 Valleys Ultra with great excitement back in February 2020 – little did we know what was in store, as the nation then dealt with a global pandemic. Our excitement and determination to stage the event has not diminished and we’re delighted that our road to the start line, of what we hope will be a flagship trail in the Lake District National Park, has begun once more.
“We are working hard to ensure to deliver a fantastic, sustainable event that showcases the communities, businesses and landscape that makes the Lake District so special. We look forward to welcoming you to the start line in September 2023, for the start of more than just an event, but a little piece of history. Be the first to take on the 13 Valleys Ultra, and say, ‘I was there at the beginning’,” said Colin Murphy, Race Director.
In 2017 the Lake District was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site; this designation specifically covers the 13 valleys that make up the Lake District National Park. 5% of each entry fee will be donated to the Lake District Foundation to support the National Park.
