Tackle any trail with the new Brooks Catamount 2 SkyVault and the High Point Collection
Brooks Running, expert in performance running, is introducing its very first head-to-toe trail collection. The spotlight is on the Brooks Catamount 2, a technical trail shoe that’s designed for trail runners looking to soar to new speeds.
The Catamount 2 has an integrated SkyVault propulsion plate that makes powering up hills as easy as putting one foot in front of the other. And with a technical shoe comes a technical outfit: the High Point Collection. The collection features apparel specifically designed with trail runners’ needs in mind: protection, storage and freedom of movement. Trail lovers can run happy and distraction-free in the Brooks High Point jackets, shorts and socks. With this collection, runners are fully equipped to ascend.
The Catamount 2
The Brooks Catamount 2 is the perfect running shoe for trail runners looking to push the pace and reach new heights on the trails. The unique shape of the shoe provides flexibility on technical terrain, as well as stability and comfort on downhill sections. The new SkyVault propulsion plate is integrated in the midsole to help trail runners to run uphill efficiently while doubling as a rock shield. When a runner steps on the plate and pushes off in stride, the plate bends before snapping back into place, delivering propulsion and assistance as the runner climbs. The DNA FLASH midsole, crafted from a nitrogen-infused compound, delivers responsiveness and adaptive cushioning for a fast ride over any terrain.
The TrailTack rubber outsole offers traction on both wet and dry surfaces, and the drainage slits allow water to leave the shoe quickly so feet dry faster – meaning runners can tackle any trail with confidence. The air mesh upper has a hydrophobic outer layer and a soft inner layer that is made from 100% recycled polyester fibres and the tongue and gusset are made of 100% recycled polyester. Doing our bit for the world we run in, the new model of the Catamount is made of 16% recycled materials – the equivalent of 8 plastic bottles.
Covered from head to toe in a technical trail outfit
Along with the Catamount 2 for men and women, Brooks is introducing a full line of trail apparel, the High Point collection. This collection is engineered with the elements in mind and every detail is dedicated to meeting the needs of trail runners everywhere. The pieces are treated with durable water repellent (DWR) and are built to remain lightweight and exceptionally breathable even during hard runs. Brooks combines a deep understanding of biomechanics with hours of trail time to uncover exactly what trail runners need – protection, mobility, and storage. The collection contains the following items:
– The High Point Waterproof jacket : 14k/14k-rated waterproof protection, a 2.5L waterproof construction with taped seams and waterproof zipper, while remaining very breathable with a RET-rating of 7.
– The Women’s High Point 3” 2-1 running shorts and the Men’s High Point 7” 2-1 running shorts : DWR-treated ripstop fabric front panel that offers water and tear resistance on overgrown trails, while a dissolved yarn fabrication keeps the rest of the shell super lightweight. Both shorts have smart storage options to keep cards and keys secure on the run. The women’s High Point short is made with 25% recycled fabric, equivalent to 2 plastic bottles. The Men’s High Point short is made with 51% recycled fabric, equivalent to 6 plastic bottles.
– The High Point Crew and the High Point Quarter socks offer comfort over the toughest trails. The anti-abrasion yarn in high-friction areas makes the socks durable, while reinforcement in the toe box protects sensitive areas on the foot. The merino wool blend wicks sweat and controls odour while mesh venting provides airflow.
The Brooks Catamount 2 SkyVault is available now and the High Point apparel collection is available at selected retailers and on www.brooksrunning.eu.
