Helly Hansen delivers lightweight hiking footwear
Global technical outdoor brand, Helly Hansen extends its Verglas hiking footwear collection – a range of highly technical, protective and waterproof footwear including the Traverse Boot HT (RRP £90) and the Traverse HT (RRP £160).
Built to keep hikers comfortable and safe outdoors, the Traverse HT is a mid-cut, lightweight shoe, while the Traverse Boot HT offers added ankle support in its boot form. Both shoes combine new materials in an innovative and responsible way to enhance stability and protection without added weight.
Ideal for short and long hikes, both styles include a variety of features. Both have a combination of two different EVA compounds that make up the midsole: standard EVA for stability and protection in the lower midsole, and super lightweight EVA in the upper midsole for enhanced comfort and cushioning over longer periods of time. The outsoles feature a HH Surround-Grip lug system for traction at all angles of contact with the ground, alongside the brand’s Tough-Wear used in the most exposed areas, and a HH Max-Grip rubber compound for superior grip. A rock plate is embedded in the forefoot for rigidity and added protection on uneven and rocky terrain. All the footwear features a fully waterproof construction, utilising Helly Hansen’s HELLY TECH waterproof/breathable membrane, along with sealed seams and hydrophobic-treated materials, ensuring water repels off the surface when exposed to wet or muddy conditions.
With sustainability front of mind, the majority of the Traverse HT and Traverse Boot HT’s upper materials contain recycled content – including a 100% recycled polyester lining and 100% recycled polyester laces. In addition, both styles have been developed using an innovative 5D printing process, where the material layers are engineered to add extra protection while remaining flexible and super lightweight. The printing process also reduces waste as there is no excess material used.
Kristofer Eidsgaard, Category Managing Director for Footwear at Helly Hansen, said: “Expanding our Verglas footwear collection, we wanted to deliver styles that were highly technical and innovative, just like our outdoor clothing. We have really innovated with these designs – creating hiking shoes that offer a high level of stability and protection without compromising on lightweight comfort and agility. Our smart use of materials and technology allowed us to find this solution, along with a responsible approach to the design process itself.”
Both the Traverse Boot HT and Traverse HT come in men’s and women’s styles and will be available in-store and online from Autumn 2022. To learn more about Helly Hansen’s technologies, or the brand’s Verglas collection, please visit: www.hellyhansen.com/en_gb.
