Amazfit introduces the world’s first AMOLED sports watch with a dual solar system

Powered by one of its two solar panels, the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar can deliver up to 180 days of battery life with GPS enabled in ultra power-saving mode[1]

Global sports wearables brand Amazfit, today launches the world’s first T-Rex Dual Solar sports watch in Europe, featuring two solar panels powered by innovative ceramic-glass panels, one integrated into the display and a second, larger panel built into the watch’s caseback.

“The Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar pushes the boundaries of what a sports watch can do, not only through its innovative solar charging technology. Advanced features, including Hybrid Training, provide effective support for active lifestyles both during preparation and while exploring new routes. Even demanding conditions don’t have to stand in the way. The latest Amazfit sports watch combines impressive build quality with the durability needed for challenging adventures,” said Jesús Carrero, General Manager, EMEA, Amazfit.

Amazfit’s dual solar system

The use of two solar panels in the T-Rex Dual Solar is designed to meet the needs of long-distance hiking and adventure enthusiasts. The panel integrated into the display can generate solar energy while the watch is worn on the wrist, while the rear panel comes into its own during breaks or longer stops on the trail, when the smartwatch can be removed and its caseback positioned towards the sun. The rear panel has twice the surface area, enabling the T-Rex Dual Solar to charge twice as fast.

Just three hours of exposure per day to 50,000 lux of light (equivalent to moderately sunny conditions with light cloud cover) on either of the two panels can significantly extend the watch’s battery life. Under typical usage, the front panel can extend battery life from 25 to 34 days, while the rear panel can extend it to up to 51 days. Under heavier usage, the watch delivers up to 13 days of battery life, which can be extended to 15 or 18 days respectively with solar energy.

Built to withstand extreme conditions

The rear solar panel is made from ceramic glass, while the bezel and four buttons are crafted from lightweight, durable Grade 5 titanium. The 1.32-inch AMOLED display is protected by sapphire glass, making the watch highly resistant to scratches and impacts.

A peak display brightness of up to 3,000 nits also enhances usability, ensuring that detailed information remains easy to read even in direct sunlight. Users can check key metrics at a glance without taking their eyes off the trail for more than a second. The latest Amazfit smartwatch can operate in temperatures ranging from -30°C to +70°C. It also features an LED flashlight with an SOS function.

Smart support from preparation to performance

Together with the Amazfit ecosystem, the T-Rex Dual Solar offers advanced Hybrid Training tools designed to help users prepare for demanding adventures, with in-depth analysis in the Zepp App helping users track fatigue, fitness and recovery.

Training Balance and Weekly Focus further support users by helping monitor the balance between strength and endurance training and plan future activities in line with their goals.

The T-Rex Dual Solar includes tools for estimating arrival times at a destination, such as GRun for Amazfit. The Biometric Anomaly Detector detects physical strain and the Battery Assitant calculates remaining battery life. The T-Rex Dual Solar also monitors blood oxygen saturation, a useful metric when venturing into high-altitude environments.

A reliable partner on the trail

Six satellite systems, including GPS and Galileo, provide accurate positioning and turn-by-turn navigation. Expanded road networks make it easier to plan routes and find points of interest (POIs), while downloadable topographic maps with contour lines and ski maps help users better prepare for adventures across varied terrain. During navigation, waypoints and a color-coded elevation profile also provide useful guidance, helping users assess the difficulty of ascents and descents.

The T-Rex Dual Solar also features a built-in flashlight with adjustable brightness, delivering a 200-lux white light beam and an SOS mode. Boost mode increases the light output to 300 lux, providing an additional source of illumination during nighttime adventures.

The smartwatch is equipped with a suite of advanced sensors designed to provide accurate measurements of metrics including heart rate and fatigue levels. Other sensors can provide alerts about sudden changes in weather conditions or an excessively fast climbing pace.

Pricing and availability

The Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar is designed for long adventures where access to external power sources may be uncertain or limited. Thanks to its dual solar system, the smartwatch can remain functional for longer without the need for conventional charging, providing access to maps, a compass and a range of metrics that help users stay informed and in control throughout their journey.

Pre-orders for the T-Rex Dual Solar, which in its European version also supports NFC payments[2], will open on September 22 through Amazfit’s European websites and selected retail partners.
