The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) is delighted to announce its autumn vote for project funding is now open! Eight vitally important shortlisted projects, from across the world, are hoping to secure funding of up to
€30 000, and the association is asking for the public to help choose which projects to support under the European Outdoor Conservation Association initiative.
Following a record 342 applications for funding this round, every project has undergone rigorous checks and scoring, before also being vetted by a scientific panel, to ensure only the most impactful, from an environmental point of view, make it to the shortlist. Ranging from Argentina to Papua New Guinea, and Portugal to Costa Rica, the projects have been split into two categories – ‘Water’ and ‘Wild Places’ – and are all focussing on very different problems. The common thread for all eight projects, however, is that each one is tackling an urgent conservation issue, is embedded within local communities on the ground, and is bringing people closer to nature. The dedication to conservation is something that the European Outdoor Conservation Association highly values.
The public vote is an important event in EOCA’s calendar, not only setting some of the work it is going to be supporting for the next few years, but also raising awareness about the breadth of issues that are being faced by communities, landscapes and wildlife around the world. The European Outdoor Conservation Association aims to provide substantial support to these initiatives.
Once the public vote has chosen a project in each of the two categories, EOCA members will participate in their own private vote to choose further projects from the remaining shortlist.
The European Outdoor Conservation Association’s vote will run until 12.00 midday GMT / 13.00 CET on Friday 31st October and can be found at www.eocaconservation.org/vote/

“As ever, the quality of applications we have received is extremely high, and the only regret is that there is not more funding available to support more of them. With tens of thousands of votes cast each time we have a vote like this, we would be thrilled to fund any one of these projects, and we are looking forward to seeing the outcome!”
