SOTO extends range of expedition cooking kit
Expedition stove and cookware brand SOTO has added to its range of lightweight kit available in the UK.
New to the market are SOTO’s Thermolite Pot Set, River Pot, Navigator Frying Pan, and Aero Bottles.
The SOTO Thermolite Pot Set (suggested retail price – SRP – £41.95) consists of a 750ml hard anodized aluminium pot with a multi-functional lid, a micro-lifter and its own cozy/storage pouch. The pot is designed for hot drinks, pasta, soups and stews. Its hard anodized alumnium ensures that it is both robust and hardwearing, while also lightweight. The resin lid has a secure silicone seal, keeping food or drink warmer for longer, and it can also be used as a strainer for pasta or as a flat base for a 100g fuel can.
Fitting neatly inside are SOTO’s micro-lifter, and a sprung pot handle and gripper that is compact and lightweight, ideal to support the pot while heating and serving the contents. The set comes with its own cozy/storage pouch. Handy for transport, its insulated properties also helps keep the pot’s contents warmer (or colder) for longer. The set weighs just 227g.
The SOTO River Pot (£35.95) is built for the most lightweight-conscious backpackers. The aluminium pot with handle has a generous one litre volume and has the capacity to carry both a SOTO Amicus Stove and a gas canister. The pot weighs only 118g and comes with a plastic lid (23g).
The SOTO Navigator Frying Pan (£16.25) is another lightweight option for backpackers. The 18cm diameter non-stick aluminium frying pan weighs only 110g and is a useful solo addition to the kit list, or in combination with the SOTO Navigator Cook Set (sold separately), onto which it fits neatly.
The SOTO Aero Bottle 200ml (£79.95) and Aero Bottle 300ml (£94.95) are double-walled vacuum sealed drinks bottles made out of titanium. The surface of each bottle has been specially crafted to depict Japanese Washi, a traditional hand-made paper, and the textured finish is easy to grip. The high quality construction keeps hot drinks hotter and cold drinks colder for up to 12 hours, regardless of ambient temperatures. The bottles have wide necks for easy drinking and leak-proof internal threading, and are corrosion-resistant and ultra-light – the 200ml Aero Bottle weighs 126g and the 300ml bottle weighs 148g.
