Black Diamond Athlete Carlo Traversi knows a thing or two about the importance of a crash pad. From Yosemite to Switzerland and beyond, Carlo has spent years scouring the forests and alpine in search of untouched boulders. A first ascentionist to the core, Carlo isn’t afraid to hike miles into the mountains for his next first ascent.
And that’s exactly why he loves the new Black Diamond Erratic Crash Pad.
The all-new Erratic Crash Pad is an ultralight, yet highly durable pad designed to access those far-flung backcountry blocs. Featuring a water-resistant face fabric, a premium foam layup, and a padded, adjustable backpack carry system for the approach, the Erratic exactly what Carlo has always dreamed of.
Or as he puts it, the Erratic is “built for the modern-day boulderer.”
PRODUCT DETAILS
A lightweight and durable pad designed to access those hard-to-get-to blocs, the Erratic is made with top-of-the-line shell fabrics and foam. It’s constructed with Dynex grid fabric that has a TPU coating for added water resistance. The corners are reinforced by having extra layers of fabric. Premium bonded foam layup cushions falls and increases water resistance for soggy, early-spring landing zones. The Erratic has a padded and highly adjustable backpack carry system that’s designed for long approaches and heavy loads. This state-of-the-art pad, like all our pads, has an integrated multi-pad carry system.
