Salomon, the global leader in trail-running, is updating its Genesis range with options to help you find that motivation during fall and winter seasons.
The Genesis trail-running shoe gets the Gore-Tex treatment with a new upper that will keep your feet dry and warm from the rain, while still featuring the proven combination from the original Genesis of energyFOAM for comfort and cushion and advancedCHASSIS for lateral stability, creating an overall feeling of safety.
For runners who want to go the distance, even if the sky is menacing and the ground is muddy and full of puddles, the S/LAB Genesis Spine adds a waterproof gaiter to the S/LAB Genesis, creating the perfect shoe for long runs on technical terrain, whatever the conditions. All of these shoes feature Salomon’s grippy contaGRIP outsole to tackle muddy trails and wet rocks.
Expanding the Genesis family for even tougher conditions
The Genesis GTX trail-running shoe combines a bottom unit filled with Salomon technologies ensuring comfort and stability for a confident feeling when running, with a durable and waterproof upper for runners looking for security on the trail, whatever the conditions. The Gore-Tex membrane, the best on the market in terms of waterproofing, replaces the Matryx membrane on the upper to help you fight off rainy conditions so your feet can remain dry, even after an intense rain shower or stepping into puddles, while still being highly resistant to abrasion. The shoe features both energyFOAM in the midsole for cushioning and an activeCHASSIS in the heel for support, which creates a unique combination of comfort and stability, so you don’t have to worry about stepping on pointy rocks or twisting an ankle while running on rocky trails. The outsole uses a more durable contaGRIP® compound than the regular Genesis shoe, with a unique two-part lug pattern and 4.5mm lugs that create a secure grip, even on varying, technical terrain.

The S/LAB Genesis Spine combines a comfortable and cushy midsole with a grippy outsole to explore uncharted places, even in cold and rainy conditions, thanks to a waterproof gaiter that keeps your feet dry and your mind serene. This shoe has been tested in the grueling conditions of ultra-trail running in cold rain and slippery snow. The gaiter, taken from the S/LAB XA Alpine, features a water-resistant zip to keep your feet dry and avoid debris falling into the shoe. The bottom of the shoe is borrowed from the S/LAB Genesis with a cushioned energyFOAM and Profeel Film to filter out rocks and bring even more protection underfoot, so you don’t have to worry about technical conditions, terrible weather or technical, rocky trails. The outsole features a grippy contaGRIP® compound with raised treads and a unique, two-part lug pattern to create a super secure grip, even on changing grounds.

The Genesis trail-running shoe is packed with Salomon technology that combines comfort and confidence in the bottom unit with a durable and snug upper to create the perfect shoe for runners looking for security on the trail. The shoe features both Energy Foam in the midsole for cushioning and an Active Chassis in the heel for support, which creates a unique combination of comfort and stability, so you don’t have to worry about stepping on pointy rocks or twisting an ankle while running on rocky trails. The outsole uses the All-Terrain contaGRIP® compound, with a unique two-part lug pattern and 4.5mm lugs that create a secure grip, even on varying, technical terrain. The shoe is covered in weaved Matryx to provide the same protection from tears and abrasions that the S/LAB versions boast. When mechanically tested against similar shoes from competitors, the Genesis was found to have a bouncier midsole for greater cushioning, a superior grip, and to be more resistant to tear and abrasion thanks to the combination of these proven technologies on the upper and in the midsole and outsole. The end-result is a shoe with an ideal balance of durability, protection and comfort. Plus, 34% of the upper is made with recycled materials, amounting to 13% of the total weight of the shoe.

The S/LAB Genesis LTD Courtney celebrates an astounding year of smashed 100-milers, saluting Courtney’s uniquely inspiring presence on trails across the globe. Your feet stay protected thanks to the Matryx fabric with Kevlar thread, a reinforced toe cap in the front and extra protection on the side, so you can run through rocky and technical terrain without the constant fear of that unpleasant foot-to-rock feeling. A request from Courtney was to make the shoe more breathable. To solve this, tiny holes were added to the toe cap at the front, to improve airflow without compromising protection. The outsole features Salomon’s All-Terrain Contagrip and 4.5mm lugs with a unique two-part lug pattern that adapts to the terrain to ensure a secure grip, guiding you through a variety of conditions—whether it’s a muddy and wet trail by the river or a rocky, technical path through the mountains. To ensure long distance comfort, the midsole features Salomon’s lightweight and responsive Energy Foam made by combining EVA and Olefin to deliver long-lasting cushion and energy return, along with a Profeel Film that filters out rocky and sharp surfaces to prevent painful surprises, and a small gaiter keeping rocks and debris out of the shoe. Paired with a heel strip for easy step-in and the Salomon Quicklace system for precise foothold, the S/LAB Genesis delivers steady comfort across even the longest distances.
