66°North collaborates with Rory Griffin to launch ‘Helgafell’ trail running collection

Named after Helgafell, a mountain on Iceland's Snæfellsnes Peninsula

Icelandic B-Corp outerwear brand 66°North is set to launch its new ‘Helgafell’ running collection, developed in partnership with London-based photographer, director, and avid trail runner Rory Griffin. The 14-piece capsule features entirely new styles for both men and women, and will be available starting April 24th.

Named after Helgafell, a mountain on Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula, and inspired by the British sport of fell running—which involves off-road racing in upland areas—the collection prioritizes functionality to ensure comfort and safety during trail running.

Fell running, originating in the North of the UK, challenges athletes with diverse terrains, emphasizing navigational skills over speed. The ‘Helgafell’ collection addresses the unique needs of trail runners, eliminating the need for a backpack. Key features include stuffable pockets, 2-in-1 shorts, visibility strips, and adjustable elements.

Rory Griffin, editor-in-chief of Orienteer Mapazine—a publication focusing on outdoor exploration and technical fashion—notes, “Born from the shared reverence for the rugged beauty of the Icelandic and British landscapes, the ‘Helgafell’ collection by 66°North is a testament to the power of lightness and resilience. Designed for athletes seeking to push further on cool summer days, the collection features innovative, lightweight technical fabrics that enable freedom of movement and protection from the elements. With integrated storage, packable designs, and a nod to Iceland’s topographic weather patterns, each piece is as adaptable as the landscapes it celebrates—empowering wearers to ascend to new heights, no matter where their journey leads.”

Collection Highlights:

  • Helgafell Jacket: A lightweight windbreaker crafted from densely woven fabric, featuring articulated sleeves and adjustable hem and hood for optimal protection against changing
  • Helgafell Vest: Constructed from breathable, sun-blocking fabric with light insulation for chest protection. Includes a two-way front zipper, reversible security pocket, and adjustable hem.
  • Helgafell Longsleeve: A highly breathable, stretchable mesh shirt with articulated sleeves and low-profile seams for enhanced freedom of movement.
  • Helgafell T-Shirt: A sun-blocking T-shirt with breathable mesh panels, articulated fit, and short sleeves for unrestricted movement.
  • Helgafell Shorts and Skirt: Designed for trail running, featuring 2-in-1 designs with inner tights and outer layers, multiple pockets, and high-visibility reflective strips.
  • Grettir and Logn Leggings: Quick-drying, durable leggings with adjustable waistbands, reflective detailing, and sun-blocking properties.

Helgi Óskarsson, CEO of 66°North, said: “The ‘Helgafell’ collection reflects our dedication to innovation and quality, providing trail runners with apparel that blends Icelandic craftsmanship with contemporary design. We couldn’t think of a better partner than Rory for this collaboration, after working together for many years behind the scenes at 66°North. As a passionate runner and a true expert of UK fashion and sport culture, he brings unmatched insight. His forward-thinking approach has led to this innovative collection, and we are thrilled to introduce it ”

The ‘Helgafell’ collection will be available online and in-store starting April 24th, with prices ranging £85 / 750 DKK for a t.shirt to £205 / 1750 DKK for a windbreaker jacket.
