The North Face: COP26

#TAKEACTIONGIVEHOPE

Stabio, Switzerland, October 28th – For more than 50 years The North Face has worked to protect the wild places that we love to explore – we know we are not perfect, but we know we need to act.

COP26 is an opportunity for us all to unite, take action, and give hope.

Taking place in Glasgow this year will be the 26th annual summit, with the UK as President of COP26. World leaders will arrive in Scotland, alongside tens of thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesses, and citizens for twelve days of talks. The aim of the conference is to reach a critical agreement on how to tackle climate change.

That’s why The North Face will be sending a clear message to world leaders at COP26, demanding they turn words into actions and commit to changes that will protect the planet.

The North Face will lead a day of action with a special speaker series summit hosted at the brand store in Glasgow and broadcast online to the world, whilst our athletes and explorers will call on leaders to make change now by posting messages on social media.

Viewers of the Speaker Series can unpack the topics of climate change together with four climate activists on 1st November, from The North Face Glasgow store. Two key guests will be The North Face Senior Sustainability Manager, Julian Lings who will dissect key issues in an open conversation with The North Face athlete and environmental advocate Xavier de le Rue alongside the other industry voices.

People across the globe will be able to join The North Face athletes and explorers with the use of a COP26 filter to make a bold statement about where they stand on the climate crisis and to inspire positive change.

Earlier this year, The North Face announced new commitments to help leave an ever-smaller footprint on the planet we must protect. These commitments included ensuring 100% of the top materials we use for The North Face apparel will be recycled, regenerative or renewable by 2025.

In addition to this, the circular e-commerce platform The North Face Renewed is now live in Germany with more markets to follow.

The North Face acknowledges the need to make changes towards a better planet. It’s time to take action together to protect the planet, educate, inform and inspire action.
