Winter gear test

Gear Test: Winter kit review in the height of summer!

As I open the package and see the winter kit to review, it is summer, 40C and with no chance of rain or cold weather for a few months!

I look forward to some cold weather to put this kit through its paces properly but, until then, here are my thoughts on the out the box quality of all the products.

Falke Warm underwear – Straight away you can feel the quality of the Falke Warm underwear, flat locked seams and a close fit. I feel it will be warm in a cold environment and I can’t wait to get out and give it a good test.  This top is very soft to the feel. I can imagine this will feel comfortable to wear under lots of layers. I did put the top on but in the recent heat wave it had to come off very quickly!.  https://www.falke.com/uk_en

Extremities Touchscreen warm gloves – I have tried lots of “Touchscreen  gloves” and they never work. I was very impressed when I tried these with my phone. They worked well with all functions and will be great in the winter when taking pics on a walk. The gloves are not heavily insulated so could work well as a liner gloves in very cold weather or as an outer glove in milder weather – https://www.terra-nova.co.uk/shop/?product_brand_filter%5B%5D=27&product_cat_filter%5B%5D=gloves-mitts

1000 Mile Walking Sock – I have never used 1000 Mile socks and look forward to getting out for a good day on the hill. Out of the package they feel good and the fit seems ok. I am a UK 11 and I’m glad I sized up to an XL as the L would have been a little too small. https://www.1000mile.co.uk/collections/1000-mile-walking-socks

I will be out on the hill over the winter months and a full review will follow….so watch this space!
