First Impressions of the Sierra Designs 40:60 Flex

Full Review to follow

There is no denying that this is a good looking ultralight backpack. The light and dark grey material with red touches really works. It is a great size and the ability to vary from a 40L to a 60L litre pack so easily is really pleasing.

The inclusion of two big mesh side pockets and a big stuff pocket on the back is great and they aren’t impeded when altering the volume.

The waist and shoulder straps are well padded and comfortable and there is a simple system for changing the size which looks robust. The pockets on the waist strap may be too big for me but I will check that out when I take it for a proper hike.

I like that there isn’t a large lid pocket as I tend to lose stuff from them or they irritate me when a pack isn’t full. I like the good sized zipped pocket at top of the pack, both inside and outside. The inside pocket has a useful clip for your keys, which I also like. The u-shaped double zip access works well and allows lots of space to put items into the pack itself.

For those who use hydration reservoirs, they will be glad to know that there is a compartment for that.

The only thing I would like to see included is a waterproof cover but you can pick one up for about £15.
